The Government of the Russian Federation approved the draft law on compulsory licensing of drugs.

This licensing is proposed to be introduced in the Russian Federation in case of emergency, epidemics or in a situation where the company is the sole owner of a medication for a serious illness. In this case the development company receives compensation. Amendments to the Civil Code of the Russian Federation prepared by the antimonopoly service will allow the Government to give domestic pharmaceutical companies the right to independently produce foreign vital medicines not only in the interests of the defense and security of the country, but also in cases of threat to the life and health of citizens. The document in the prescribed manner will be sent for consideration to the State Duma.
