International conference «Digital transformation: focus on IP» UNIGNORABLE TRANSFORMATION

On April 23-24, 2019 Moscow will host the 2nd International Conference “Digital transformation: focus on IP”. It will be the key event dedicated to the International IP Day in the Russian Federation as well as worldwide. The event will occur at the congress center, Technopolis Moscow.

The conference is included into the annual cooperation plan between Rospatent and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for 2019 and will be organized by Rospatent in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Association for the development of Clusters and Technology parks of Russia, Gazprombank and the Polytechnic Museum.

The event will gather over 800 participants from 20 countries across the world. Leaders of the IP field, federal authorities of the Russian Federation, representatives from the BRICS countries, high-ranking management from the patent offices of European Union countries, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, France, Japan, Eurasian patent office, representatives from the development institutions and legal community, Russian and foreign top managers as well as world-class experts are invited to take part in the Conference. WIPO Director General Mr. Francis Gurry has been invited to participate in the plenary session. He consecutively promotes international cooperation in the IP field and actively supports the Russian Federation`s contribution to digitalization processes.

The first day of the conference covers an array of topics concerning the challenges and opportunities which arise in the digital environment. Special focus will be made on the methods and principles of effective integration of technologies connected with AI and Big Data analysis into the IP sphere, export of Russian technological products to the international market, as well as discussion on the best international practices concerning patenting of digital IP objects.

Rospatent as one of the participants of the Russian national program «Digital economy of the Russian Federation» will present new conceptual approaches to establishment of digital platforms for patent information consumers, as well as a number of pilot projects aimed at addressing the challenges of registration and protection of intellectual property objects.

Thus, a new platform for searching patent information and means of individualization will be developed in the framework of the federal project «IT infrastructure». A number of services based on Russian technologies, software, hardware and Russian cryptographic standards of data processing and protection has already been developed.

A new information system for on-line registration for transfer of rights will be announced on the sidelines of the Conference.

The second day of the conference – Patent Analytics Day is dedicated to practical use of patent analytics to determine a strategy for scientific and technological development both for government and business sectors. Experts, analysts and top managers will share their experiences on effective implementation of different tools into the operational activities and their results.

The conference includes a youth-oriented program which consists of a lecture delivered by leading experts and entrepreneurs, along with a pitch of business projects and a business game for students, young developers and inventors, and residents of Russian clusters and techno parks.

The conference program covers a wide range of important issues concerning the field of IP transformation in the digital age. The program includes panel discussions, interactive practical sections with focus on real-life cases, a multimedia exhibition and art space, open educational and business platforms using the latest communication formats that will give all the participants the insight into existing modern tools for business development and personal growth due to the potential of intellectual property.

 

The 1st International conference dedicated to the digital transformation and the blockchain technology use was held in April 2018 and gathered 780 participants, 40 of which were foreign representatives.

Following the Rospatent conference, two task forces on the implementation of blockchain technology in the field of IP were established in the WIPO agenda.

 
 

In the framework of the 58th series of meetings of the General Assemblies of the World Intellectual Property Organization Member States, WIPO Director General Francis Gurry noted that a promising area of work is the implementation of joint practical projects on the use of the contemporary technologies in the field of intellectual property, especially emphasizing Russia's leading position in implementation of technological innovations.

The following speakers attended the 2018 conference: Maxim Akimov, First Deputy Chief of the Government Staff of the Russian Federation; Grigory Ivliev, Head of Rospatent; Sergey Katyrin, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation; Pimentel Louise Otavio, President of the National Institute of Industrial Property of Brazil; Mikhail Fedotov, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation; Tlevlesova Saule, President of the Eurasian Patent Office; Zhang Maoyu, Deputy Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office of China; Elena Borisenko, Deputy Chairman of the Board, Gazprombank; Birendra Prasad Singh, Joint Patent and Design Controller of the Intellectual Property Office of India; Nikolay Korzhenevsky, author and presenter of the program "Economics: Course of the Day" on the TV channel "Russia 24".
